In Memory of Shippo
Many of you followed Shippo and his adventures on social media for years. I remember the first time I saw him- his 'mahm', Vicki, had posted videos on how to groom a fluffy corgi. At the time, fluffs weren't as well known, let alone corgis in general, so I was hooked.
Since both my Kirby and Pippin are fluffs, I've always had a special place for both Shippo and Koga. I have loved following their adventures and just like all of you, saddened when he passed last year from complications with DM.
This next hard enamel pin in our #shadeoutdm series is in honor of Shippo. He will be forever loved and forever missed. As with the other #shadeoutdm pins, $5 of each pin will go directly to Shade Out DM, and they have chosen to use the proceeds to go into creating more pin designs!
Shippo's legacy lives on as his memory is helping to spread awareness of this terrible disease.
Shippo is a little larger than our other pins at 1.75 inches long (so we could have more detail) with silver plating. As this is our July release, he is wearing an American flag bandana and comes with two red star rubber backings to celebrate July 4th.
What is DM? DM stands for Degenerative Myelopathy, which would be the canine version of ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease. It affects over 100 dog breeds and is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed. Many people are unaware of this incurable disease, so we want to spread awareness, as it CAN be prevented by genetic testing prior to breeding; making well educated decisions.
